Parliamentary Resolution on measures for the development of spinal cord injury treatment

The Althing resolves to request that the government follow up on the greater international awareness of the issue of spinal cord injury while supporting the UN’s road safety initiative. To that end, support shall be sought for one of the United Nations’ Development Goals adopted in 2015 to be directed toward progress in finding a cure for neurological diseases and injuries and that, in addition, the authorities also make every effort to establish incentive awards that will be granted for the development of scientific methods and a medical policy for spinal cord injuries. The authorities shall also, during Iceland’s year as chair of the Nordic Council of Ministers, make sure that the focus on spinal cord injury will be maintained in Nordic co-operation during the coming years.
